The online course “Foot-and-Mouth Disease” is offered by the Pan American Center for Foot-and-Mouth Disease and Veterinary Public Health (PANAFTOSA/PAHO/WHO). This course highlights the importance of staying vigilant and actively contributing to the ongoing prevention and surveillance of this disease.
Target Audience
The course is designed for those living in rural areas who raise animals or are involved in livestock farming across the Americas. However, it is not exclusive to these groups. If you don’t fall into these categories but have an interest in learning, you’re also welcome! Our goal is to share this knowledge with society as a whole, using clear and accessible language.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Understand what foot-and-mouth disease is and know what actions to take if you suspect it affects your herd or a neighbor’s.
- Recognize the consequences of a foot-and-mouth outbreak for your herd or region.
- Learn about preventive and surveillance measures you can implement on your property to protect your animals from foot-and-mouth disease.
